Reimagining Autonomy: A Platform Approach

On Thursday, December 2, together with LeddarTech, we held our seventh Chapter Event, this time focusing on the topic of Safety & Sensors and the importance of an ecosystem approach in developing LiDAR technologies for autonomous vehicles.

Over 200 international engineers, researchers, consultants, and business leaders from OEMs, automotive suppliers, universities, and technology companies joined the online event to interact with our guests and discuss the transition of ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) to AD (autonomous driving) as well as the benefits of a sensing platform approach.

“In the ADAS and AD space, sensing is becoming more and more important. It’s no longer a nice-to-have; it’s a safety requirement“, said Frantz Saintellemy, President and COO at LeddarTech.

The virtual Chapter Event assembled a diverse lineup of speakers – leaders in business & technical roles from world-class organizations such as:

  • Frantz Saintellemy, President and COO at LeddarTech,
  • Thomas Brandes, Senior Marketing Manager at ams OSRAM,
  • Rick Tewell, COO at AEye, Inc.
  • Marco Angelici, Director Business Unit MEMS Microactuator at STMicroelectronics
  • Klaus Fuchs, Senior Product Manager ADAS/AD Software & Controls at AVL
  • Eric Hoarau, Head of Automotive Strategic Partnerships at

You can discover the highlights of this event below.

The Chapter Event was also a chance to tackle the key challenges of LiDAR technologies and talk about how the industry can achieve better performance and cost targets while accelerating time to market. Our guests concluded that managing complexity in the current automotive landscape requires collaboration and a diverse ecosystem of partners, such as OEMs, semiconductor companies, tech companies, Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 suppliers, all focusing on their core competencies to deliver the final system.

We are currently gathering technical feedback from all our participants and summarizing the valuable input of this Chapter Event Safety & Sensors, which will be included in an in-depth event report.
